About

Hi there.  My name is Bob Netherton and I have been a Cardinals fan for over 40 years.  With this blog, I hope to share some of my memories of past players and key games over the last four decades.   This is purely amateur stuff, put together in the evenings while listening to or watching Cardinals games.  I hope that you enjoy what you find here.  And if you have any stories that you would like to share, please add them in the comments or send me a link to your blog.

    Bob-

Just found a bookmarked your blog.

Looks like we are from same era. I started with Cards in 1967 as a 6 year old watching series with my grandpa. Been fan ever since. Bob Gibson favorite Cardinal of all time, still huge fan of his. By amazing luck saw him pitch his only no-hitter in Pittsburgh.

Converted my wife to Cardinals, watch nearly every game now, and both my children are fans. Have seen the Cardinals somewhere nearly every year with them.

I will continue to follow; keep it up.

  2. Hey Mark – thanks for the comment. Always nice meeting another Cardinals fan of similar vintage.

I’m so jealous that you got to see Gibson’s no hitter. What an amazing night. I still remember Jack Buck’s call of that one. As you can tell from reading my blog, Gibson is my favorite too. Was able to catch the game where he got his 3,000th strikeout – not nearly as exciting as your no-hitter.

Glad that you are able to keep up with the Redbirds. It does sort of get in your blood. Stay in touch, and if you have some Cardinals stories to share, please pass them along!

Hi Bob, I really enjoyed your description of September 1963 when Curt Simmons became the last pitcher to steal home. I am in charge of the event in Egypt, PA on June 2, 2012, where we be dedicating our field to our home town hero. I was wondering if it would be ok to copy that entry into a commemorative program we are printing. Of course we would credit you and your blog.
